Wooden pallets

Pallet is the transport packaging made from wood and is being used for a transportation of the various loads in most effective way with a help of forklifts and hydraulic trolleys.

Loads being packed on pallets can be wrapped with stretch films or can be fixed with the mounting belts. The most widely used wooden pallet in Ukraine and European union has a size of 1200*80*14,5 cm.

The wooden pallet itself has a weight of about 20 kg in depending on its modification and also a level of the wood humidity. Most of the pallets can withstand a minimum load of 1 tonne and higher. Using various logistic methods like railway, container transport and road transport, have prompted an overall usage of the pallets that created economic feasibility for all involved parties.

In the European Union the most common pallet that is being used is EURO Pallet (EPAL) with a dimension of 120*80*14,5 cm. This pallet is mainly used in the retail industry. The size of the pallet has been constructed based on the size of the trucks used for the transportation of the goods from warehouses to the retail places.

There are the following sizes of pallets used:

EPAL pallet – Certified Euro pallet. Size 1200x800x145mm. There is EPAL sign burned out on left and right corner blocks of the pallet. Batch number, production date and manufacturer’s marking data are placed on the central block of the pallet. The upper side of the pallet consists from 5 boards: wide board (145mm), narrow board (100mm), wide, narrow, wide boards. The lower side of the pallet consists from 3 boards: narrow, wide, narrow.  The board edges must be chamfered. All three bottom boards must be chamfered inwards and outwards on the top side.

EPAL pallet 1200x1000: Certified Euro pallet. Size of the pallet is 1200x1000x145mm. There is EPAL sign burned out on left and right corner blocks of the pallet. Batch number, production date and manufacturer’s marking data are placed on the central block of the pallet. The upper side of the pallet consists from 7 boards: wide board (120mm), 2 narrow boards (100mm), wide, 2 narrow boards, 1 wide board. The lower side of the pallet consists from 3 boards: narrow, wide, narrow.  The board edges must be chamfered. All three bottom boards must be chamfered inwards and outwards on the top side.

Freight not disposable pallet. Size 1200x800x145mm. The certified marking is not applied. The upper side consists from 5 boards: wide board (145mm), narrow board (100mm), wide, narrow, wide. The lower side consists from 3 boards: narrow, wide, narrow. The construction of the pallet is identical to Euro standard pallet. Boards with a thickness of 20-22mm.

The upper side consists from 7 boards: wide board (120mm), 2 narrow boards (100mm), wide, 2 narrow boards, wide. The lower side consists from 3 boards: narrow, wide, narrow. EUR-box. Size 800x1200x800mm. There is a plate in the middle burned with a EUR sign. Made from metal steel.
